Masterpieces from all over the world will be shown in the next exhibition "High Society" in The Rijksmuseum. The theme of this exhibition will be "four centuries of glamour". This time The Rijksmuseum got there hands on some fantastic art. They include paintings from Cranach, Veronese, Reynolds, Velázquez, Gainsborough, Sargent, Munch and Manet.
The two most important paintings in the exhibition will be Rembrandt's portraits of Marten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit. These amazing portraits were painted in the 17th century to commemorate the couple's marriage. This was the only time that Rembrandt painted a couple, so this makes it even more special.
There were many more powerful monarchs, eccentric aristocrats and fabulously wealthy burghers that commissioned the best painters in the world to get portraits of them selfs. In this exhibition, you see many of them. The most impressive one for me was Dr Pozzi, a dandy and notorious womanizer, and he was fortunate enough to turn his hobby into his profession. He was a gynaecologist. LOL
It doesn't happen that often that you can see an exhibition this impressive in one museum. So If you have the opportunity to go and see it, I would highly recommend it.
